Migrate to Shopify · from Salesforce Commerce Cloud
Salesforce Commerce Cloud to Shopify migration, with price books, promotions and URL rules mapped
SFCC stores leave because the licence takes a share of revenue, every change ships through a cartridge release, and the next storefront rebuild (SiteGenesis to SFRA to PWA Kit) is already on the roadmap. We move the catalogue, price books, customer lists and order history to Shopify Plus, test it on a staging store, and switch over on a day you choose.

01Why merchants leave Salesforce Commerce Cloud
What Salesforce Commerce Cloud costs you that Shopify does not
- 01A licence priced on your revenueB2C Commerce contracts run for years and are priced as a percentage of gross merchandise value with minimums, before the systems integrator and the cartridge vendors are paid. Shopify Plus is a published monthly rate, and most cartridges have an app or a native feature waiting.
- 02Every change is a releaseA new promotion field, a tweak to the checkout or a content slot change goes through a cartridge, a code version and the sandbox, staging and production pipeline. The SI is usually in the loop. On Shopify your team edits the theme, discounts and content in the admin, and a developer handles Functions and checkout extensions.
- 03A storefront rebuild every few yearsSiteGenesis gave way to SFRA, and SFRA is now followed by PWA Kit and Managed Runtime, each one a re-implementation of the storefront. Shopify themes on Online Store 2.0 upgrade in place, and Hydrogen is there if you want headless.
- 04Developers and SIs that are hard to findSFCC developers work in a proprietary script engine, Business Manager and Demandware-era tooling, so hiring is slow and projects queue at the partner. Shopify developers are a far larger pool, and the stack is Liquid, JavaScript and public APIs.
02What moves
Everything that comes across, and the catch for each
A Salesforce Commerce Cloud store is more than its products. This is the list we check off, record by record, before launch.
- Catalogues, master and variant productsMaster products with variation attributes become Shopify products with options and variants; variation groups and product sets are rebuilt as collections or linked products. Bundles become Shopify Bundles.
- Custom attributesCustom attributes on products, categories and orders (the system object extensions) become metafields with the same names and types.
- CategoriesThe storefront catalogue’s category tree becomes collections, with the hierarchy kept in the navigation and category attributes in metafields.
- Price booksList and sale price books per currency become Shopify Markets pricing; customer-specific price books become B2B catalogues on Plus.
- Customer lists and groupsCustomer profiles with addresses and the custom attributes you added. Static customer groups become tags; dynamic groups become Shopify segments. Passwords cannot move, so customers get an invite to set a new one.
- OrdersOrder history from the order export with line items, price adjustments, shipments and statuses, so customer service and returns keep working after the switch.
- Content assets, slots and Page Designer pagesContent assets become pages or metaobjects; Page Designer layouts and slots are rebuilt as Online Store 2.0 sections your team edits in the theme editor.
- Promotions, campaigns and couponsPromotions are recreated as Shopify discounts and Shopify Functions, with campaign schedules kept; coupon codes become discount codes.

04How the migration runs
Five steps, with the old store trading the whole time
- 01Audit and planWe export the cartridge list, the active promotions, the jobs and integrations, the URL rules and the URL list from Search Console, and give you a written migration plan with a fixed price and a launch date.
- 02Build the Shopify storeTheme design and build on a staging store while SFCC keeps trading. Each cartridge and Business Manager feature that mattered gets a named Shopify app, Function or checkout extension.
- 03Migrate and verify dataCatalogues, price books, customers, orders, promotions and content are imported from the Business Manager exports, then checked record by record against them.
- 04Redirects and SEOA full redirect map per site and locale, meta titles and descriptions carried across, structured data rebuilt and the sitemap ready for Search Console.
- 05Launch and watchIntegrations switch to the new store, a final delta import of orders and customers runs, and DNS switches on the day you choose. We watch Search Console, orders and error logs for the first weeks and fix anything the data flags.
05Salesforce Commerce Cloud traps
The things that go wrong when this migration is rushed
- 01URL rules and locale prefixesSFCC product URLs usually end in the product ID and .html, often under a /s/SiteName/ or locale prefix, with the exact shape set by URL rules in Business Manager. Shopify uses /products/handle and /collections/handle. We generate the redirect map per site and locale from the live URL rules and test the top pages from Search Console by hand.
- 02Promotions that stackYears of campaigns, qualifiers, exclusion rules and source-code groups add up to logic nobody can state from memory. We export every active promotion, write each one down in plain English and rebuild it as a discount or a Function, then test the cart against the old storefront.
- 03Integrations pointed at Business ManagerERP, OMS, PIM and WMS feeds come in through jobs and the import/export framework, on schedules nobody wants to touch. Each feed gets re-pointed at the Shopify Admin API or a connector app, and runs in parallel against the staging store before launch.
- 04Order history volumeAn SFCC order archive can run to millions of records. We agree how many years customer service needs on Shopify, import those with the original order numbers kept in a tag and a metafield, and keep the rest in an export your team can search.
