Migrate to Shopify · from Wix
Wix to Shopify migration, with every /product-page/ URL redirected and the order history kept
Wix stores leave when the checkout, the app choice and the page speed stop keeping up with the orders. We move the catalogue, the customers, the order history and every ranking URL to Shopify, rebuild the design in a theme your team can edit, and switch over on a day you choose.

01Why merchants leave Wix
What Wix costs you that Shopify does not
- 01A checkout you cannot changeWix Stores checkout is Wix’s, with a fixed layout and the payment methods Wix supports in your country. Shopify’s checkout, Shop Pay and Checkout Extensibility let you add fields, upsells and local payment methods with apps or small extensions.
- 02Apps built for websites, with shops as a sidelineThe Wix App Market serves restaurants, hotels and portfolios as much as shops, so subscriptions, loyalty, reviews and 3PL connections are thin and often come from a single vendor. Shopify has several competing apps for each, plus native subscriptions, gift cards and bundles.
- 03Pages that weigh too muchWix pages ship the editor’s rendering framework alongside your product page, and drag-and-drop layouts add weight on top. Shopify themes are server-rendered Liquid on a CDN, so a product page loads with the images, the cart script and little else.
- 04Design and data tangled in one editorIn the Wix Editor the product grid, the fonts and the layout live in a drag-and-drop canvas, and a developer works in Velo on the side. Shopify separates the theme (code your developer owns) from the data (products, customers, orders), so a redesign never touches the catalogue.
02What moves
Everything that comes across, and the catch for each
A Wix store is more than its products. This is the list we check off, record by record, before launch.
- Products and variantsWix product options become Shopify options and variants. Custom text fields become line item properties. Products with more than three options or 100 variants are restructured before import.
- CategoriesWix categories become Shopify collections, with the product order kept where you set one by hand.
- CustomersContacts and site members with addresses and marketing consent. Passwords cannot move between platforms, so customers get an invite to set a new one.
- OrdersOrder history with line items, totals, statuses and dates, pulled through the Wix API, so customer service and returns keep working from day one.
- ReviewsWix Reviews or third-party review data (Judge.me, Yotpo) imported with ratings, names and dates.
- Blog posts and pagesWix Blog posts become Shopify articles with images re-hosted and internal links rewritten; static pages are rebuilt in the theme.
- Images and mediaProduct and gallery images are downloaded at full resolution from Wix and re-uploaded to Shopify Files, with alt text kept.
- Discounts, gift cards and subscriptionsCoupons are recreated as Shopify discounts. Outstanding gift card balances migrate on Shopify Plus. Wix product subscriptions move to Shopify Subscriptions or Recharge with the next billing date preserved.

04How the migration runs
Five steps, with the old store trading the whole time
- 01Audit and planWe list the Wix apps and Velo files, export the URL list from Search Console and the data counts, and give you a written migration plan with a fixed price and a launch date.
- 02Build the Shopify storeTheme design and build on a staging store while Wix keeps trading, with your layout recreated in an Online Store 2.0 theme. Each Wix app that mattered gets a named replacement.
- 03Migrate and verify dataProducts, customers, orders, reviews and blog posts are pulled through the Wix API and imported, then checked record by record against the Wix dashboard.
- 04Redirects and SEOA full redirect map from /product-page/ and /category/ URLs to the new ones, meta titles and descriptions carried across, structured data rebuilt and the sitemap ready for Search Console.
- 05Launch and watchA final delta import of new orders and customers, then DNS switches on the day you choose. We watch Search Console, orders and error logs for the first weeks and fix anything the data flags.
05Wix traps
The things that go wrong when this migration is rushed
- 01/product-page/ URLsWix puts products at /product-page/your-product and categories at /category/your-category; Shopify uses /products/ and /collections/. Every old URL gets a 301, and we test the top pages from Search Console by hand before launch.
- 02What the CSV export missesWix’s CSV exports are flat files built for re-importing into Wix, and they lose formatting, media order and the links between records. We pull products, orders, blog posts and reviews through the Wix API instead and compare counts against the Wix dashboard before anything is imported.
- 03Site members and passwordsSite members log in through Wix, with passwords hashed on Wix’s side. On Shopify they become customer accounts with the same email and order history, and each one gets an invitation to set a password, timed with your launch announcement.
- 04Velo code nobody wrote downVelo scripts on a Wix store handle things like custom shipping rules, product badges or a hidden trade price list, and they live inside the Editor where no one looks. We read every Velo file before quoting and map each behaviour to a Shopify Function, app or theme feature.
